That’s one thing renowned life coach Martha Beck tells her clients and coaches to do when it comes to taking on tasks you don’t enjoy and those things you aren’t good at. Do what’s necessary then bag those other things that you don’t like and don’t need to do.
Conscious living and relationship expert Gay Hendricks, says in his book “The Big Leap” to “avoid” doing the things that fall into your “Zone of Incompetence.” If you’re not good at something stop spending so much time and energy doing it. Delegate it to someone who has the talent for the task so you can focus on the things you are good at and passionate about.
I’m taking the advice of the Big Wigs today and bagging a few things myself. I’m not going to deal with the design of my site. I’m no good at it. And, I’m calling on my Web guy to manage the Internet stuff. And, I’m not going to develop that RFP for the job I really don’t want to do. Today, I will do what I do best, the thing I’m passionate about. I’ll write. I’m excited just thinking about it.
What are you going to do? What drives and inspires you? And what happens when you live close to that passion?
Mull that over. Wednesday I’ll write more about why it matters.
